Did you know that Santa Maria has a plan for redevelopment of its downtown area? Check out the Project Summary for details. The plan is to revitalize Santa Maria’s older core areas near Broadway & Main. There has been a lot of development toward the southern part of town and also a lot of retail put in near Highway 101. This proposal deals with the future of the city’s old downtown area. According to the Santa Maria Times, the city is also considering expanding its Commercial Facade Rebate and Loan Program affecting some of those same areas.
Now onto the Pismo Beach & Avila Beach real estate market update. My last look at these cities was posted on April 3, 2007. There is not much change at all. The number of active listings is about the same at 131 listings (previously 132 listings). At 22, the same amount of homes are pending or contingent currently. In the past 30 days, 14 homes have sold, 31 new listings have come on the market, and 22 listings have expired. The most expensive home sold during this period was a 2800 sq. ft. home in the gated community of Heron Crest in the San Luis Bay Estates. It sold for $1,575,000.
